It was the sledge that brought the tennis world to boiling point, but now Australia's Nick Kyrgios and Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka will play alongside each other in the International Premier Tennis League.

It was the sledge that brought the tennis world to boiling point, but now Australia's Nick Kyrgios and Switzerland's Stan Wawrinka will play alongside each other in the International Premier Tennis League.

The pair have become teammates for the Singapore Slammers in the new Tennis League which kicked off in Japan on Wednesday night.

The Slammers went down on the opening night, which will do little to mend the frosty relationship between Kyrgios and Wawrinka after the former’s brutal sledge of the latter’s girlfriend.

The pair clashed in Montreal in August, after Kyrgios claimed Thanasi Kokkinakis had sex with Wawrinka’s girlfriend in an on-court sledge.



 

The Swiss champion reportedly confronted Kyrgios in the locker room after the incident, and the issue has never been fully resolved.

Admittedly, Wawrinka will feature in the tournament only briefly, as he and Andy Murray were named as late additions to the squad to replace Novak Djokovic.
