Fan tweets Sergio Garcia for 206 days asking to be caddie... and finally gets his wish

After almost seven months of receiving at least one message a day from a persistent fan, Sergio Garcia granted his supporter's wish.

Sometimes, it pays to be persistent.

On July 7 last year, golf fan Mark Johnson commenced a Twitter campaign in an attempt to fulfil his apparent dream of caddying for Sergio Garcia.


An initial message to the Spaniard read: "You're my number one golfer please can I caddie for you when your caddie can't make it cheers."

Johnson certainly did not stop there and, after tweeting Garcia for 206 days in succession, he was finally rewarded on Saturday as the four-time major runner-up offered his number-one supporter the chance to carry his bag during the pro-am event at September's British Masters.

A tweet from Garcia read: "Ok @markjohno6969 I think I found the perfect day for you to get a taste of carrying my bag & make your dream come true! Are you ready?"

The details were duly confirmed and Johnson is now set to achieve his ambition on September 27.

Nice work, Sergio.
