Buntine to pay for Bachelor of the Year win

Matt Buntine isn't holding out hope that he'll be seeing any of his winnings from the Cleo Bachelor of the Year title.

The GWS midfielder took out the title after entering the competition for a bit of a laugh and it looks like his teammates are going to make him pay.

Speaking with the Daily Telegraph teammate Heath Shaw says Buntine will receive a rather substantial for not only entering the competition but winning it as well.

"It's a fine just to enter the Bachelor of the Year. But to win it, that's another thing altogether. I think that deserves a monthly fine until he is replaced this time next year," Shaw said.

The 22 year-old Buntine, who has a girlfriend, said he's resigned himself to footing the bill at the bar for the foreseeable future.

"I expect to be featuring very heavily in our fine system. A large slice of my winnings will be going to the end-of-year celebrations but that's not a bad thing," Buntine said.
